The Wall St Journal writes about them. Customers call from
all over the world: from China, Germany, Italy and Japan.
Why? In the Pacific Northwest they know something about rain.
In a town called Astoria, in the Northwest corner of Oregon,
they average more annual rainfall than Portland, OR or Seattle,
WA. From this town where two great water masses meet (the
Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean).
Purveyors of precipitation pleasure was created for a one-stop rain gear store on-line, and felt that it could fill that need.
In short, an on line store opened as Let It Rain, a store originally dedicated
to keeping their fellow Astorians dry in the wettest of the
wet weather. But they didn't stop there.
They had visions of entering the fast lane of the information
superhighway, and so sought to get their store online, where
their stylish rain gear could be sold to the world.
As the Wall Street Journal points out (November 6, 2000 issue),
success hasn't spoiled Barbara. Citing
that the service "above and beyond the call" is one reason
for its fierce customer loyalty, and that orders are sent
with handwritten cards, the Wall St. Journal has called Let
It Rain "one of the best places in the country to buy rain
gear".
Barbara is dedicated to preserving the old fashioned
habits that have carried her this far.
